She was born in a small community, one far from a hospital, so was never issued a birth certificate. Her family thinks she is less than seven years old. Marie-Florine's family struggles to eat, and oftentimes, Marie-Florine and her siblings would go to bed hungry.
When Marie-Florine came to Espwa, she had never been to a doctor, never been to school, and never received a new item of clothing. Now, Marie-Florine is a healthy kindergardener, and loves playing jump rope with her Espwa sisters.
